May BUFF Board Meeting Minutes  

Present: 

Jim LeBlond, Ed Jones, Bob & Louise Goldsberry, Jorge Vilarres, Tom Jones, Mike Suo, Bill Fischer, Joe Panfalone, Tom Frank, Jane Cook.

Membership -

• Don Prince will correct the dues reinstatements on mailing labels as required, all dues for membership should be paid to Don.

Treasurer -

• IRS filing is due Dec. 31, 2000.  Financial report was presented, see attached.  Louise is working on getting people together to conduct an audit.  Jane and Lora Kalbli will be on the audit committee.

Buff Editor - 

• Louise will contact Ted regarding monies for stamps and printing.  

• Bob G. has contacted Thomas Graphics to produce 200 newsletters, folded and stapled for $100.00 per month, Mike moved, Tom Jones seconded to accept this bid, motion carried.  

• Adriens Outfitters will continue to stamp and apply mailing labels.

Web Site - 

• Joe received a letter from miningco.com, a web search engine, who wrote to us about how impressed he was with our site, he featured our website on his page.  Joe will be searching out our web address - buckeyeflyfishers.com - for availability and report back.

Conservation - 

• Bob reported that he will ask Delamere and Hopkins to go in on a joint venture with us on the next conservation raffle.  Ed moved, Mike seconded to authorize Bob to proceed with this, motion passed. 

• Jorge reported that he is disappointed in the participation on the Mad River cleanup, stream monitoring and habitat building.  Jorge is asking for a committee to be formed to prove that we are an important player in the restoration of the Mad and to work on these projects.  Bob suggested that Tom Allen or Mark Blauvelt come in to talk to the general membership regarding the Mad and our involvement in the river.  Tom Frank will pursue this.

• Tom reported on the new regulations that are in the planning stages in Michigan, he will keep us advised.

• Speakers - Tom is in need of speakers for the meeting, any suggestions give to Tom Frank.  

Trips - 

• Frank Guenther and Dave Eucoter are taking over the East Fork fishing trip because the Goldsberry’s are going out of town.

Raffles - 

• nothing to report.  

CFRB - 

• Louise reported that she has a contract with Holiday Inn Eastgate for the banquet and sport show.  Ed Jones moved, Joe seconded to confirm the contract with Holiday Inn, the date will be February 26, 2000.  Motion passed.  

• The next committee meeting will be May 26 at Mike Bryant’s house.  

Budget - 

• Jim needs line item budget information from Board members.

Meetings - 

• moving the meetings to a different location was discussed. We will be keeping our eyes open for new places, issue tabled.

Education - 

• we need new fly lines and leaders for the club rods and reels.

• Greg Johnson is reaching out to the community by presenting info to the Boy Scouts this weekend.  

• We also have been involved in the following - WaterFest 3 people, 14 hours total; Upward Bound we are working with; Earth Day Eastgate Mall -1200 kids; and free fishing day at East Fork.

Bob Hart Show - 

• Joe suggested that we do a teaching assistant type program for the people “manning” the booth, fly tying attracts people to the booth.  We should have the website address on a business card to hand out to people.
