March 17, 2004 B.U.F.F. BOD Meeting

 

· Present: Bryant, Baker, Mackey, Dressman, Hogue, Kennard, Chambers, Howell, D. Hampton,   Prince, Panfalone, West, Lilly, LeBlond, D. Jones, Shirley.

· Amendment to motion Joe Panfalone made during February 18th BOD meeting:  RE: Any person going on a BUFF trip must be a club member or a member of sister club NKFF.  (My  apology to NKFF for leaving them out.)

· Membership Health – Greg Johnson has been returned to the hospital with unknown source of bleeding.  He is open to visitors.  Patti Howell with be undergoing surgery next Tuesday for a shoulder problem.

· Program for April – Lee Chambers and Steve Lilly are working on a speaker to talk about pontoon boats and other flotation.

· CFR Update – Debbie Hampton and Jim LeBlond are currently working on funding. They have until June to find $8500 to support 32 women for the weekend.  Eli Lilly is being contacted as well as other corporations. Debbie requested help from the Board - if a contact is made, Ken West has volunteered to talk with them.  Members are asked to contact your employers to see if they have funds available and to ask for their forms for Debbie to fill out.  Another suggestion was to ask ten of your fellow co-workers to each donate $20.00 – it will add up quickly.  They are also considering special raffles for a donated item.  The fund drive is to be stepped up in the April BUFFER.  Joe Panfalone will do changes on the web-site to make information easily available.

· Budget – Mike Bryant submitted proposals that were voted on as follows: FFS has been “placed” until next month.  Banquet was approved as submitted.  Monthly Raffle Drawings was approved as submitted.  BUFFER was approved with note that postage may increase.  Education was approved as submitted.  The Treasurer asked for addendum to add Secretary to this budget report and approved as submitted.  Web-site was approved as submitted.  President’s Fund was approved as submitted.  FFF Affiliation fee was approved as submitted.  Library was approved as submitted.  Outreach was approved as submitted.  Recognition/Photo Calendar was approved as submitted.  Membership was approved after rounding up submitted figure.  Intermediate Fly Casting Course was approved as submitted.  The purchase of a Microphone System was approved but tabled for further research for the “just right” system.  The Dell PC Laptop was approved and increased slightly to allow for a few incidentals.  Mike will have everything ready for final approval next month.

· Upcoming Planning Meetings – Patti Howell and Mike Bryant will meet within next few weeks to critique the Banquet and FFS.  Mike will also meet with Lee Chamber and Steve Lilly to settle the programming for the rest of the year.  Mike and Tom Dressman will meet Sunday April 4th at 7 pm to develop conservation strategy – an e-mail will be sent to board.  Tom Dressman requested time in May’s Board meeting and June’s Dinner meeting to review conservation mission.

· Upcoming Education Events – Casting for Beginners begins May 8th and dates for Intermediate are to be determined.  Don Prince requested how will they define who is an intermediate.  Jim LeBlond stated it was anyone not a true beginner.  Patti Howell and Jim Boude will have a display set-up at Dick’s Sports, Eastgate this Sunday afternoon. 

· Membership Report – Dave Jones announced we have 254 members, 9 dropped off, and we added 4 new members.

· Treasurer’s Report – Don Hogue gave his report – see attached.  Don asked about the board motion to have a non board member audit his accounts.  Mike Bryant will ask Louise Goldsberry if she will do this.  He also has requested a second table for COD/Will Calls at the next Banquet and also asked that Children’s names be on the reservation forms.  Don has submitted the required IRS report with the 2003 beginning balance and ending balance. 

· Don Hogue said Greg Johnson and Merrel Ludlow have both thanked Don for the club sending the gift certificates last month.  They were both delighted with their certificates.

· Communication – Jon Kennard announced the BUFFER closing date for April will be the 29th of March.

· Education Ken West will be going with Lou Haynes, and Bill Schobel to the Indian Hill High School for a presentation on April 7th.  They will be at Parky’s on Friday, April 16th to help with bus trippers and offering them a few minutes to catch fish in the pond.

· Trips – Joe Panfalone was thanked for his great presentation on Day Trips at the dinner meeting last week.  The Brookville Tailwater trip has been moved to the 22nd of May.  Joe is hoping to have a cook-out after the trip.

· Conservation – Tom Dressman reported he has contacted J. Dorsey, Clermont County Soil and Water and has been given some interesting statistics.  He has a grant deadline in May for $5,000 to use for conservation planting.  

· Don Prince announced October 2004 will be the deadline for the 2005 calendar regularly scheduled event dates.

· Joe Panfalone moved to adjourn the meeting, Tom Baker seconded.  Meeting adjourned.
