January 20, 2004 B.U.F.F. BOD Meeting

 

Present: Bryant, Dressman, Hogue, Kennard, Panfalone, Chambers, Howell, D & J Hampton, Prince, West, Baker, Mackey, LeBlond, Lilly, Haynes, D. Jones, Shirley.

 

· Membership Health – Non to report other than Greg Johnson.

· BOD Award – members voted.

 · February Program – Education – Mike Bryant began a discussion about the different activities to be the program in place of a speaker.  Many suggestions were given and Debbie Hampton agreed to organize the various activities.

 · Conservation chair – Tom Dressman has accepted this chair.  He will work with Mike Bryant to co/plan – but after the FF Show and Banquet.

· 2004 Budget planning – Mike Bryant requested all board members to fill out the budget request sheet he passed out.  He will work on the projected budget and have ready for voting on at the March meeting. 

· 2004 FFF Dues – Mike Bryant requested a check for $250 to pay the dues.

 · FF Show Update – Tom Whiting had to cancel his part of the show.  Mike Bryant requested suggestions for a fill-in speaker.  It was decided that Don Prince would call Tim Farmer and get back to Mike right away.  Bob Mackey asked if there were enough volunteers and Lou Haynes suggested two team registration tables to work 10 to 2.  Debbie Hampton will be working with the kids and Dave Jones will do exhibitor badges.

 · Banquet Update – Patti Howell said 120 tickets have been sold so far, tickets were sold at NKFF, Miami Valley and Debbie took some to Trout Unlimited meeting.  Donations now include 10 guided trips and many donations were begged at the Hart Show.  Patti has a list of signed-up volunteers but needs three more to sell raffle tickets.  Patti said she would be doing Joe Guenther’s banquet job of contacting FF businesses for donations next year.  A new banquet leader must be found.

 · Planning meetings – FFS will meet next Monday, the 26th, at Mike Bryant’s house, 7 pm.  The Banquet group will meet after the February dinner meeting.  CFR will be meeting at Bass Pro.  Mike Bryant said Next Year Programs will be discussed over beer but after the FF Show.

 · Educational Events – Beginners tying class: Ken West has advertising set for March class in Maderia and is open to the public.  FF101: Lou Hanes past out the course outline, it will start March 4th for 5 Thursday evenings at Hopewell Jr. School in West Chester and is open to members and staff of the school.  It could be as high as 60 people. Lou said he would probably need a PA system.

 · CFR Update – Debbie Hampton has talked with contacts at Cleveland Clinic; the Trout Unlimited FFS show in Bloomington; the Avon request has been turned in; Mike Bryant is to get P&G forms done. 

 · Mike Bryant received Thank You notes from NKFF Board of Directors and from Joe and Sharon Panfalone.

 · Lou Haynes requested funds for a Toshiba DVD/VCR combo player.  It was decided to take the $110 from the Education fund and this player becomes BUFF property.

 · Membership Report – Dave Jones reported 238 members.  42 receive BUFFER via email.

 · Treasurer’s Report – Don Hogue reported  Total Deposits of $2145, Total Disbursements of $1963.19 and Ending Balance of $8209.33.

 · Communication – Jon Kennard announced the BUFFER closing date for January will be the 26th.  Mike Bryant has final info for the FFS.  Need some articles – space is tight but will take out some of the calendar to fit.  Need list of menus from Mike.

 · Education – Ken West has more dates with Parky’s Farm and will need volunteers.  Joe Panfalone asked about press coverage.  Debbie Hampton said CancerCare wants us to do a program.  Lou Haynes will invite sports writers to identify themselves at the FFS door to get in free.  Mike Bryant asked Lou for his list of writers to make up special badges for them.

 · Conservation – Tom Dressman has been reviewing a website for a Missouri 1993 conservation program involving 20,000 people currently monitoring water quality, cleaning up streams, and vegetation planning.  He is also looking at the Department of Natural Resources for information.  Lou Haynes mentioned BUFF grants to fund students work.  Debbie asked if we can donate to Brookville.  Debbie made a motion to take $250.00 from the Conservation Fund to give to Chapter 699 Trout Unlimited FFS in Bloomington for stocking the Brookville Tail Water.  Jim Hampton seconded. Motion passed.  Bob Mackey said he had three boxes from Bob Goldsberry.  He will make a record and give list to Lou Haynes.

A motion to adjourn was made by Don Hogue and seconded by Don Prince.
